Seesmic LogoSeesmic which is currently still in closed Beta is a start-up founded by French Entrepreneur Loic Le Meur. Seesmic has gathered a lot of interest within the valley recently and one of the reasons for this is that Loic has been very open about the way the company is run. He posts a video about the company and how it is run on his blog everyday and invites his viewers to participate in making decisions that affects the company such as getting them to send in applications and vote on the company’s logo.

Essentially what Seesmic is providing is similar to the widely successful micro-blogging site, Twitter. The difference is then instead of allowing short text messages, Seesmic lets its users take short video clips with their webcams. Loic is known to be a huge Twitter fan and hence copied some of twitter’s features onto Seesmic such as the ability to allow people to follow your all video posts.

By posting videos on Seesmic and allowing their members to interact, Loic hopes to create a video conversation beyond geographical boundaries. As mentioned, the service is not open to the public as yet, but you can ask Loic for an invitation code by adding him on Twitter. Seesmic has attracted many interesting investors such as Michael Arrington and Dave Winer.

On several video posts by Loic, he has mentioned that a Singaporean programmer working from Singapore was hired to develop the site. Seems like Asian talents are really being sought after internationally. I would encourage everyone to go through a few of his videos on his blog as he talks about why he left France to build a start-up in Silicon Valley.

The 4th LeWeb3 conference was held last week in Paris and some of the videos of the keynote speeches and panels are just released! LeWeb3 is an annual conference organized by French entrepreneur Loic Le Meur and his wife Geraldine Le Meur that talks about emerging technologies on the web.

This year’s guest speakers included Kevin Rose (Founder of Digg), Evan Williams (Founder of Twitter), Philippe Starck (Famous Designer) and many more. As a Digg fan-boy, I thoroughly enjoyed the Kevin Rose interview.

You will also be able to view videos of the previous LeWeb3 conferences on the site where speakers include Reid Hoffman (Founder of LinkedIn) and a certain Frenchman that goes by the name of Nicolas Sarkozy (familiar anyone?) though you have to know French to watch that one

Wine Library TVWine Guru, Gary Vaynerchuk, hosts a daily show on winelibrarytv.com that talks about wine appreciation and gives recommendations to the clueless on what the best wines are that season. The producers claim that these shows are totally unscripted and unrehearsed so that his reviews are indeed his true opinions.

In his shows, Vaynerchuk teaches topics such as palette training and even what cheese to choose to go with different wines. If you are interested in wine or simply do not want to look clueless when you visit classy restaurants, go through a couple of episodes and you may learn just enough to impress the people around you.

Revision3 produced a music video with very witty lyrics for the Christmas season. If you are looking for funding, send them this video immediately and don’t be surprised if you get your money before the year ends.

We have previously covered Revision3 in this post.

Visit Podtech.net while there are shows still worth watching!

podtech logoTechnology podcasting site, Podtech.net, seem to be losing their star podcasters and may not be able to sustain much longer. Web strategist, Jeremiah Owyang, left the company earlier this year to join Forrester Research and Techcrunch has just reported that A-list tech Blogger, Robert Scoble, will be leaving the company in January as well.

The company has been in trouble for quite a while with their Founder and CEO, John Furrier, leaving the company in August this year. Personally, the only shows I watch on Podtech are the interviews done by Scoble. With him out of the picture, I really doubt the company has any chance of surviving.

Scoble has not yet indicated if he would be using the format of the Scoble Show in his new company so catch the last remaining episodes of the Scoble Show on Podtech and any other show for that matter while the site is still around.

Diggnation is bringing geeky back!

Revision3 LogoDiggnation is a talk show where Kevin Rose, founder of Digg, Pownce and Revision3, and Alex Albrecht, an internet celebrity, talks about the hottest news of the week that were featured on Digg.com. This show is by far the most popular show on the online video site revision3.com and is definitely one of my ‘must watch’ podcasts each week.

Diggnation is launched to its paid subscribers every Saturday morning (Singapore time) and then released to the public for free on Sunday afternoons. The show is packed with humor and conversations often get wild as the hosts get drunk during the show. Drinking beer during the show has become a trademark of Diggnation and they have even spun off a business off it. Kevin Rose is the perfect example of a 21st century geek who not only can be smart, but can also be just as cool as any other person.

Revision3 has quite a handful of other shows. For more serious tech stories and tech interviews, I would recommend the GigaOM show that is hosted by Om Malik himself. I must warn though that some of the episodes are just not as interesting as others and my advice would be to watch episodes that the guest is from an area you are interested in. For people interested in Photoshop, you can learn a few tricks in PixelPerfect where the host goes through how to achieve some effects.

Broadcast media is definitely slowly moving towards the internet where users will have more control on what they want to watch and when they want to watch. We will be covering more online video sites so stay tuned!
