Unlike the Tesla Roadster which went with a conventional design, another fully electric car, the Aptera, has gone with a futuristic look. As you can see from the picture below, this model has only 3 wheels, 2 in front and 1 at the back. The Aptera is retailed at less than US$30k compared to the US$100k Tesla Roadster.

This car can go to a top speed of 135 km/h and accelerates from 0-87 km/h under 10 seconds. The vehicle comes in 2 models, a full electric one which would allow the vehicle to cover up to about 200 km and a hybrid version for consumers who want more distance.

The Aptera is scheduled to ship in 2008 and is only available in California, United States at the moment as they are unable to open multiple maintenance facilities in different areas. Check out their flash presentation on the Aptera.
Even if the Aptera was available in Singapore, I highly doubt the take up will be high as the adoption of hybrid models are already very slow due to their hefty price tags. With rising concern on global warming, we can only hope that the government would subsidize even further the prices of such vehicles so that we can play a part in reducing emissions.
